In conjunction with The British Land Company, ORC has developed a web-based geographical information system (GIS) called the Retail Data Viewer (RDV) accessible through The British Land Partners Portal.

The purpose of the RDV is to create a web-based GIS to store information relating to foodstores across Great Britain. The RDV contains results from the RSPM as well as information from ORC's extensive databases. These details can then be viewed by surveyors, wherever they have web access, via an intuitive, easy-to-use interface.

The type of store information held in the system is extensive and includes:

sales forecasts   catchment boundaries   drivetime boundaries   dominance maps   catchment consumer profiles   photographs

The system is also interactive, allowing the user to carry out simple geographical queries such as distance measurement and point in polygon. We expect it to become even more sophisticated with the future developments planned.
