| ViaTrakTM is the software we have developed to calculate routes people take
between origin and destination. It makes use of the routing library, RWNet, supplied by RouteWare. |
| The calculation of routes varies for different types of trip and modes of transport. Inputs
required are: |
| a form of network (road, rail, bus, pedestrian routes) |
| speeds across the network |
| co-ordinates of the origin and destination of the route |
|
| We can alter many parameters depending upon requirements, such as whether the route is
calculated based on the quickest time or shortest distance. The mode of transport used will dictate the
availability of certain routes and the speed at which these trips can be completed. For example, cars cannot
use a pedestrian shopping street but usually travel at a higher average speed than buses. |
| The main output from ViaTrakTM is a list of individual network links
used for each route, with a wealth of attribute data attached. This includes direction of travel, time taken to cross the link and the
order of links used. It can also query and aggregate data to produce highly informative thematic mapping. |
