comparison and convenience goods spend and retail information. |
| Catchment boundaries have been generated using Oxford Retail Consultant's
Retail Sales & Profit model
(RSPM) - the UK's only fully integrated supply and demand gravity model - which has been validated
and calibrated using consumer research. Catchments are weighted to account for the effect
of competition, road network, population and households. |
| This data set contains the following fields for each town: |
| town name |
| XY coordinates of the retail centre |
| primary catchment boundary (50% of spend) |
| secondary catchment boundary (75% of spend) |
| tertiary catchment boundary (90% of spend) |
| national ranking based on comparison and convenience goods spend |
| Unique Reference Number (URN) |

| Retail Centre Catchment Boundaries are available for two definitions of
retail centre: |
| Level 1:
where a town centre's attractiveness includes the town centre itself, adjacent suburban centres
and retail parks. There are c. 760 such centres |
| Level 2:
where the town centre, suburban centres and retail parks are treated as separate retail
centres. There are c. 2,300 of these |
